Pictures of Simple Machines

The other day in class, we watched two videos on simple machines. The first one was about levers, wheel and axles, and pulleys. The second video was on the other three, inclined plane, wedge, and screw. After each video, we got into groups and discussed the notes we'd taken. When we were finished discussing, everybody drew, labeled, and colored each simple machine, as you can see in the above images. (please excuse my lack of artistic ability) :)

In this lesson of ours, I learned that a lot of simple machines were actually other simple machines that'd been altered in some way. For example, a screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder. I also learned that a faucet works when a screw blocks the water flow. And that would be everything!

Get to Know Me.

Hey there, I'm Hannah. First of all, you should know that this blog is for a class called STEM. Science, Technology, Engineering, Math. Well, as you can tell from the title, this post is so you can get to know me. Hmm...where to begin?

Well, I live in the middle of nowhere. I also go to school in the middle of nowhere. So basically my life takes place in the middle of nowhere. My whole family learns/works in my school, my parents are teachers and my twin sisters are in elementary school. My school is kinda weird in the way that the elementary, middle and high schools are all in one building. But anyways, that has nothing to do with me :)

There's not much of anything fun to do around here since, ya know, I'm in the middle of nowhere. To keep myself entertained, I play volleyball and basketball, and keep book for the softball team. In the winter, my life is basically school and basketball. Whether it's my team, the twin's team, a varsity team, or the Indiana Hoosiers, I'm doing something involved with basketball. I also love baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds. I quit playing softball, but I still like the game.

So other than sports, I hang out with my friends, seemingly all the time. We do everything from watching TLC to doing random stuff that's just stupid, but we have fun :) I listen to lots of music as well. My favorites are One Direction, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, and the great Michael Jackson :) I basically have teenage girl taste when it comes to music.
